FARGO – After more than two months of live local music, FM’s Finest comes to a close tonight with performances by singer/songwriter Rosie Sauvageau and Shane Maland & Little Winter.
FM’s Finest is sponsored by The Forum and music promoter Jade Presents.

Rosie Sauvageau, the current Miss North Dakota, brings plenty of musical experience to tonight’s show: She’s been playing piano since she was 2 years old, though she only played her first solo acoustic show in 2008.
Since then, she’s played in small venues like Fargo’s Red Raven Espresso Parlor and on big stages like that of the Miss America pageant in Las Vegas this year (she won the preliminary talent competition at the contest for her vocal and piano performance of “Make You Feel My Love”).
Sauvageau describes her music as a combination of singer/songwriter, pop and alternative, with a splash of musical theater as well.

Shane Maland

But regardless of what genre it is, she says she considers her music to be honest, above all else.
“I hope fans leave feeling like they’ve connected to at least one song, or that they can relate to a certain situation or scenario on some level,” she says.
Joining Sauvageau tonight will be Shane Maland & Little Winter, a five-person Fargo alt country/folk band that was formed in 2007.
Maland, a singer and guitarist, joined the group in 2008. He had previously played a few solo shows around town.
In their first few years of playing together, Maland says a particularly memorable experience for the group was opening for Cory Chisel and The Wandering Sons at the Aquarium last spring.

Little Winter

“It was a packed house and we had a great reception from the crowd,” he says.
At live performances, Maland says he and Little Winter try to keep things as fresh and varied as possible.
“You will get a little bit of everything when you listen to our live shows,” he says. “We try to change our style and sound quite a bit.”
Little Winter is currently working on a new album called “After the Morning Fire.” It will be released this fall.
